YIN & FACIAL YOGA
This is a slow, nurturing yoga class where as few as 5 to 6 postures are maintained throughout a 45 minute class. These classes are designed to help release stored up tension in the body and fascia and help one unwind from sitting at desks for extended periods or dealing with day-to-day stress. They slow down the heart rate and promote deep relaxation by stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system taking the body out of it’s usual fight or flight stressed out mode.
We include facial yoga for 10 minutes in the restorative practice. The face, neck and surrounding muscles also tend to hold a lot of stress that goes past relatively unnoticed. Once we release these the body and mind start to feel calm and peaceful. Facial yoga is also great for toning muscles of the face which if practiced regularly can result in a more youthful appearance.
The class is followed by deep rest or savasana.
